Written about 800-900 years ago in Europe, these words and the traditional tune of Maoz Tzur is remembered by many of us as a celebratory Hanukkah song from our childhood. For our congregation, Beth Israel Messianic Synagogue in Jacksonville, Florida, this triumphant arrangement is sung throughout the year as an anthem of worship to the God of Israel for his steadfast faithfulness to His people and to His Word throughout our history, and in our lives today. May the Stronghold of Rock fortify your soul also, as you worship when your strength has failed and his Word prevails.
